Ray Lindström

2026 -TUCSON’S RADIO CENTENNIAL

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS of BROADCASTING

Speaker Ray Lindstrom wants to tell you about it!

In 1926 Tucson’s first radio station signed on the air. It was the first time that Old Pueblo audiences could hear up-to-the-minute news and live entertainment in their homes!

Plenty has changed in radio since then, but it was a wild ride, and broadcaster Ray Lindstrom wants to tell your group all about it. He knows. He was here for quite a bit of it.

He is among just a few who were here in Tucson radio in the 1950’s and eventually TV when it arrived later.

Ray will deliver a lively lecture about radio here in Tucson and the 4 major changes it went through in the those 100 years...from 1 station in 1926 to what we have today. And, what dramatic changes they were!

Whether you need a luncheon talk for 15-30 minutes, or a complete
1 to 1 1/2 hour lecture, Ray will provide the length you need to fit your program.

He is also available for radio/TV interviews or podcasts. As an old broadcaster, he never met a microphone he didn’t like. As a matter of fact, that is his only requirement, that you provide the microphone. If you are an organization that pays your speaker, Ray asks that you donate an any honorarium to one of his favorite charities.

Who is Ray Lindstrom? He started in broadcasting in Tucson radio in the 1950’s while he was a student at Catalina High School and continued on the air through his UA college graduation in 1965. He was in both radio and TV in Tucson and Phoenix, and later branched out onto the national scene. He has appeared on the NBC Today Show, CBS Evening News, and CBS Sunday Morning. Forbes Magazine called him an “indefatigable promoter.” He is a member of the Arizona Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.  He is retired and living in Oro Valley.
